Job Summary
The Registered Nurse – Telemetry provides specialized nursing care to patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and management of acute or chronic medical conditions. This role involves assessing patient status, administering medications and treatments, interpreting telemetry data, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient care.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess and monitor patients’ cardiac rhythms and overall medical condition.
- Interpret telemetry data and promptly report abnormal findings to physicians and care teams.
- Administer medications, IV therapy, and treatments as prescribed.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans based on patient needs.
- Provide patient and family education regarding cardiac health, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Document patient care activities accurately and timely in electronic medical records.
- Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and allied health professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
- Respond to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions.
- Ensure compliance with infection control, safety protocols, and hospital policies.
Required Qualifications
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in state.
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- BSN degree.
- Experience in cardiac step-down or intensive care units.
- Prior training in advanced cardiac monitoring.
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – preferred.
- Cardiac Vascular Nursing Certification (RN-BC) – preferred.
