Job Summary
A Dental Hygienist is responsible for providing preventive oral care services to patients under the supervision of a licensed dentist. The role focuses on maintaining oral health by performing cleanings, educating patients on proper oral hygiene, and assisting in the prevention and treatment of oral diseases.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing teeth to remove plaque and tartar.
- Conduct oral health assessments, including reviewing medical history and examining gums and teeth.
- Take and develop dental X-rays as required.
- Apply preventive treatments such as fluoride and sealants.
- Educate patients on proper oral hygiene practices, including brushing, flossing, and preventive care.
- Document patient treatment plans, clinical findings, and procedures accurately in dental records.
- Assist dentists during procedures when required.
- Ensure all instruments and equipment are properly sterilized and maintained according to infection control standards.
- Monitor patient comfort and address concerns during dental procedures.
- Maintain compliance with state dental regulations and clinic protocols.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from an accredited program.
- Active state license to practice as a Dental Hygienist.
- Certification in CPR/BLS.
- Knowledge of dental procedures, instruments, and infection control protocols.
- Strong communication and patient education skills.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.

- Experience working in a dental clinic or healthcare setting.
- Familiarity with electronic dental record systems.
Certifications (if any)
- CPR/BLS certification – required.
