  • Job Summary
    The Endoscopy Surgical Technician supports GI procedures by preparing and maintaining the endoscopy suite, handling specialized equipment, and assisting physicians and nurses during endoscopic procedures. This role requires expertise in Olympus scope setup, reprocessing, and patient care in a fast-paced surgical environment. The technician ensures a sterile, safe, and efficient clinical setting for procedures and recovery.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Assist in the preparation and execution of 60–70 GI procedures per day across 8 procedure rooms.
    2. Set up, handle, and reprocess Olympus scopes and related endoscopic equipment.
    3. Maintain clean, sterile environments in procedure and PACU areas.
    4. Support patient care in pre- and post-procedure settings with 1:2/3 ratio in PACU and 1:1 in procedural rooms.
    5. Collaborate closely with nursing staff, anesthesiologists, and physicians to ensure procedural success.
    6. Document relevant patient and procedural data in the EPIC EMR system.
    7. Adhere to infection control protocols and department sanitation policies.
    8. Participate in rotating shifts during the department’s hours of operation (6:30 AM – 5:30 PM).
    9. Be available for on-call shifts during evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Minimum of 1–2 years of experience as a GI or Endoscopy Technician.
    2. Demonstrated experience with Olympus scope setup and reprocessing.
    3. Strong understanding of conscious sedation and MAC-assisted procedures.
    4. Familiarity with recovery and post-anesthesia care protocols.
    5. Proficiency in using EPIC or similar electronic medical record systems.
    6. Excellent attention to detail, communication skills, and ability to work in a high-volume setting.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Certification through the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA) or the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CBSPD).
    Certifications
