  • Job Summary
    The Occupational Health Nurse Practitioner (OHNP) provides advanced clinical care to employees, focusing on health promotion, workplace safety, injury prevention, and management of occupational and non-occupational illnesses. This role conducts assessments, performs medical evaluations, oversees return-to-work processes, and collaborates with safety, HR, and leadership teams to support overall employee health and regulatory compliance.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Conduct employee health assessments, physical examinations, and medical evaluations.
    2. Diagnose and manage work-related injuries and illnesses, providing treatment, referrals, and follow-up care.
    3. Oversee return-to-work and case management processes, including work restrictions and accommodations.
    4. Perform health screenings such as audiometry, vision testing, respiratory assessments, and vaccine administration.
    5. Maintain accurate and confidential medical records in accordance with legal and regulatory standards.
    6. Provide health education and counseling to employees on wellness, injury prevention, and chronic disease management.
    7. Collaborate with safety and HR teams to identify workplace hazards and support safety initiatives.
    8. Assist in the development and implementation of occupational health policies, procedures, and compliance programs.
    9. Manage emergency medical situations and provide first aid or triage as needed.
    10. Participate in wellness programs, surveillance initiatives, and regulatory reporting.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Master’s degree or Doctorate in Nursing (MSN/DNP) with Nurse Practitioner certification.
    2. Current and unrestricted state Nurse Practitioner (NP) license.
    3. Minimum of 1–3 years of experience in occupational health, primary care, urgent care, or related clinical setting.
    4. Strong knowledge of OSHA guidelines, workplace safety practices, and occupational health regulations.
    5. Excellent assessment, clinical decision-making, and communication skills.

    Preferred Qualifications (if any)
    1. Experience in corporate, industrial, or manufacturing environments.
    2. Familiarity with workers’ compensation processes and case management.
    3. Training in emergency response or advanced triage.

    Certifications (if any)
    1. Board certification as a Nurse Practitioner (e.g., FNP, ANP, or Occupational Health NP).
    2. Basic Life Support (BLS).
    3. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), if required by facility.
    4. COHN or COHN-S (Certified Occupational Health Nurse / Specialist), preferred but not required.
