  • Job Summary:
    The Registered Nurse in the Post Partum unit provides comprehensive nursing care to mothers and their newborns following childbirth. This role involves monitoring patients’ physical and emotional well-being, educating families on newborn care, and collaborating with healthcare providers to ensure safe recovery and successful discharge.

    Key Responsibilities:
    1. Monitor the condition of post-partum mothers, including vital signs, bleeding, and pain management.
    2. Assess newborns for health status and provide care such as feeding support, diapering, and bathing assistance.
    3. Administer medications, treatments, and interventions as prescribed by physicians.
    4. Educate mothers and families on breastfeeding techniques, newborn care, and post-partum recovery.
    5. Provide emotional support and counseling to mothers and families during the post-partum period.
    6. Document patient care, observations, and progress in electronic health records (EHR).
    7. Collaborate with the healthcare team, including obstetricians, pediatricians, and lactation consultants, to coordinate care.
    8. Ensure adherence to infection control protocols and hospital policies.
    9. Respond promptly to any post-partum complications or emergencies.

    Required Qualifications:
    1. Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice.
    2. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN preferred).
    3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    4. Experience in maternity, post-partum, or neonatal nursing preferred.
    5. Strong assessment, communication, and patient education skills.
    6. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment.

    Preferred Qualifications:
    1. Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
    2. Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
    3. Advanced certifications related to maternal-child health or lactation consulting.

    Certifications:
    1. Registered Nurse (RN) license.
    2. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    3. Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification (preferred).
