JOB SUMMARY The Medical Surgical Licensed Practical or Vocational Nurse (LPN or LVN) holds shift accountability for providing delegated aspects of direct patient care to patients under the direction of a Registered Nurse. The LPN/LVN is responsible for making decisions based on education, experience, State Board of Nursing Rules, and hospital/departmental policy and procedures. This role demonstrates critical thinking skills, scientific judgment, and leadership in the anticipation and planning for safe delivery of care. The LPN/LVN maintains clinical competencies through continuing education, delegates patient care priorities commensurate with the education and experience of the staff available, and provides direction and supervision of assigned personnel delivering patient care.
Key Responsibilities • Perform physical examination and data collection. • Assist patients with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). • Provide patient education. • Administer medications. • Perform peripheral IV therapy. • Participate in discharge planning. • Implement physician's orders. • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly.
Schedule / Shift • Nights: 7:00 PM - 7:00 AM
Required Qualifications • Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LPN/LVN) license in the state of practice. • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. • NIHSS certification. • Permanent address located 50+ miles from the facility.
