JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) provides specialized perioperative care to patients undergoing cardiovascular surgical procedures. This role requires advanced clinical skills, precision, and the ability to work collaboratively with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical teams in a high-acuity operating room environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare the CVOR for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are available and sterile.
 - Assist in cardiovascular surgeries by managing instruments, maintaining sterile fields, and supporting the surgical team.
 - Monitor patient status before, during, and after procedures, responding to changes promptly.
 - Document surgical activities, patient responses, and post-operative care accurately.
 - Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and efficient patient care.
 - Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and regulatory standards.
 - Educate patients and families on preand post-operative expectations and recovery plans.
 - Participate in ongoing training and quality improvement initiatives.
 
Required Qualifications
- 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in an operating room or cardiovascular surgical setting.
 - Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
 - Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
 - Basic Life Support (BLS).
 - Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
 
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field.
 - Prior experience in CVOR or cardiac surgery preferred.
