Job Summary
We are seeking a Clinical Prior Authorization (PA) Pharmacist to review and evaluate medication prior authorization requests. This role ensures therapies are appropriate, safe, and cost-effective while adhering to clinical guidelines, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies. The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to make informed decisions in a structured review environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Review and evaluate prior authorization requests for medications to ensure clinical appropriateness.
- Assess requests based on established clinical guidelines, policies, and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure safe and cost-effective therapy recommendations.
- Document decisions and rationale accurately in the system.
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and internal teams to clarify authorization requests.
- Maintain compliance with pharmacy regulations and organizational standards.
- Stay updated with current clinical guidelines and pharmacy practices.
- Support operational workflows and meet productivity and quality expectations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Pharmacy or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD).
- Active and unrestricted pharmacist license in AZ or TX.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a pharmacist.
- Strong knowledge of clinical guidelines and medication management.
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills.
- Strong communication and documentation skills.
- Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in prior authorization or managed care pharmacy settings.
- Familiarity with regulatory and compliance requirements in pharmacy operations.
