Job Summary
The Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit (ICU) provides specialized nursing care to critically ill patients requiring advanced monitoring and interventions. This role involves assessing patient conditions, implementing evidence-based care plans, and collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes in a high-acuity environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, monitor, and evaluate critically ill patients in the ICU
- Administer medications, treatments, and advanced life support interventions as prescribed
- Operate and monitor specialized equipment such as ventilators, infusion pumps, and cardiac monitors
- Document patient care accurately in electronic medical records
- Collaborate with physicians and healthcare team members to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Provide education and emotional support to patients and families
- Ensure compliance with infection control, patient safety, and hospital policies
- Respond promptly to emergencies and changes in patient condition
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license (state-specific or compact license)
- Minimum of 2 year of acute care nursing experience, preferably in ICU or critical care settings
- Strong knowledge of critical care nursing practices and protocols
- Ability to work effectively in high-stress, fast-paced environments
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
- Prior experience in Level 1 trauma or tertiary care centers
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred
Education
- Associate Degree in Nursing (Required)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (Preferred)
