JOB SUMMARY The Breast Sonographer Ultrasonographer performs diagnostic ultrasound procedures on patients to locate the position, size, and shape of organs and to detect any abnormalities, with a specialized focus on breast imaging.
Key Responsibilities - Perform diagnostic ultrasound examinations of the breast and surrounding structures. - Operate ultrasound equipment to acquire high-quality diagnostic images. - Evaluate sonographic images and patient information to ensure image quality and completeness of the exam. - Document patient history and inform physicians of sonographic findings. - Maintain patient records and exam documentation in accordance with departmental policies. - Adhere to safety policies and procedures. - Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
Required Qualifications - Graduate of an accredited Ultrasound Technology program. - Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
Experience - Previous experience in diagnostic medical sonography, with a specific emphasis on breast imaging.
Certifications - Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS) certification with a specialty in Breast (BR). - ARRT (American Registry for Radiologic Technologists) certification in Ultrasound may also be accepted.
Skills - Proficient in performing breast ultrasounds, including but not limited to, screening mammography, diagnostic ultrasound, and biopsy guidance. - Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to the breast. - Ability to operate and troubleshoot ultrasound equipment. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
