  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse (RN) in the Cardiac Catheterization Lab provides high-quality nursing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and interventional cardiac procedures. The RN collaborates closely with physicians, technologists, and other members of the healthcare team to ensure safe and efficient patient care before, during, and after procedures. This role requires a strong clinical background, excellent critical thinking skills, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Assist physicians during cardiac catheterization and interventional procedures.
    2. Monitor and assess patients’ hemodynamic status throughout procedures.
    3. Administer medications, including moderate sedation, as directed by the physician.
    4. Prepare, operate, and maintain specialized Cath Lab equipment and supplies.
    5. Provide pre-procedure and post-procedure patient education and support.
    6. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic health record (EHR).
    7. Adhere to all infection control, safety, and regulatory policies and standards.
    8. Participate in on-call rotations as required by department scheduling.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
    2. Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASN or BSN) from an accredited program.
    3. Minimum of 1–2 years of clinical experience in critical care, telemetry, or cardiac nursing.
    4. Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, hemodynamics, and cardiovascular medications.
    5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
    6. Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Prior experience in a Cardiac Cath Lab or Interventional Radiology setting.
    2. BSN preferred (if not already required).
    3. Familiarity with EP (Electrophysiology) procedures is a plus.

    Certifications
    1. Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required.
    2. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Required.
    3. Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) or Cardiac-Vascular Nursing Certification (RN-BC) – Preferred.
