Job Summary:
The AR Accountant will oversee general accounting operations by verifying and analyzing financial transactions. This role involves reconciling account balances, maintaining the general ledger, and managing month-end close procedures. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, thorough knowledge of accounting principles, and experience collaborating with or managing accounting teams. The Senior Accountant will also be responsible for ensuring accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across all accounting tasks.
Key Responsibilities:
- Verify, allocate, post, and reconcile accounts payable and receivable
- Produce accurate accounting reports and present financial results
- Analyze financial information and summarize overall financial status
- Identify errors and recommend improvements to enhance efficiency and control spending
- Provide technical support and guidance to management accountants
- Review and recommend updates to accounting systems and procedures
- Manage accounting assistants and bookkeepers
- Participate in financial standards development and forecasting
- Contribute to department goal-setting activities
- Prepare financial statements and assist with budget preparation
- Support tax audits and manage tax return processes
- Oversee internal and external audits to ensure compliance
- Support month-end and year-end close processes
- Develop and document internal controls, processes, and accounting policies
- Ensure company-wide compliance with GAAP principles
- Collaborate with the Financial Manager and Accounting Manager to enhance financial procedures
Required Skills:
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting procedures
- Deep understanding of GAAP principles
- Proficiency with financial accounting statements
- Experience with general ledger functions and month-end/year-end close
- Hands-on experience using accounting software such as FreshBooks and QuickBooks
- Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables
Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
Certifications:
CMA or CPA certification preferred
