Job Summary
We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Psychiatric Registered Nurse (RN) to provide specialized care to patients experiencing mental health conditions. The RN will play a vital role in assessing patient needs, administering treatments, and supporting therapeutic interventions in collaboration with psychiatrists, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals. This position requires strong clinical judgment, empathy, and the ability to maintain a safe and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct nursing care to patients with psychiatric and behavioral health conditions.
- Conduct comprehensive mental health assessments and monitor patient progress.
- Administer prescribed medications and monitor for side effects or adverse reactions.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support when necessary.
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, coping strategies, and community resources.
- Document patient care, interventions, and outcomes in compliance with regulatory and hospital standards.
- Promote a therapeutic environment that supports recovery and patient dignity.
- Participate in staff meetings, training, and continuing education programs.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
- Current, active RN license in the practicing state.
- Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in psychiatric or behavioral health settings.
- Strong clinical assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- Ability to manage challenging situations with professionalism and empathy.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience in inpatient psychiatric units, outpatient mental health clinics, or crisis intervention.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Advanced training in behavioral health or psychiatric nursing.
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (preferred).
- Psychiatric-Mental Health Nursing Certification (PMHN-BC) is an advantage.
