Job Summary
The RN – MICU provides direct patient care to critically ill adults in the Medical Intensive Care Unit. This role requires advanced clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment. The RN will collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to deliver evidence-based care while ensuring patient safety and comfort.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive nursing care to critically ill patients in the MICU
- Monitor, assess, and document patient conditions, including vital signs and lab results
- Administer medications, IV therapies, and blood products as prescribed
- Operate and manage advanced medical equipment (ventilators, infusion pumps, monitors)
- Respond promptly to emergencies and perform life-saving interventions
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans
- Educate patients and families on treatment plans, procedures, and recovery expectations
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, infection control standards, and regulatory requirements
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license in the state of practicEx
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) with commitment to obtain BSN
- Minimum of 1–2 years of acute care nursing experience (preferably in critical care)
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Ability to work 12-hour shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience in an Intensive Care Unit (ICU) or MICU setting
- Advanced knowledge of ventilator management and hemodynamic monitoring
- Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
Certifications (if any)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – required
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – required
- Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) – preferred
