JOB SUMMARY The Cath Lab Technologist is responsible for assisting physicians in performing diagnostic and interventional cardiac catheterization procedures. This role requires technical expertise, critical thinking, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Key Responsibilities • Prepare the cardiac catheterization lab for procedures. • Assist physicians during diagnostic and interventional procedures, including catheter placement, contrast injections, and hemodynamic monitoring. • Operate and maintain all necessary equipment, including imaging systems and monitoring devices. • Administer medications and contrast agents as directed by the physician. • Monitor patient vital signs and condition throughout the procedure. • Respond to emergencies and assist with life support measures as needed. • Document procedures and patient information accurately in the patient's medical record. • Maintain a sterile environment and adhere to infection control policies. • Educate patients and families about procedures and post-procedure care. • Participate in quality improvement initiatives.
Schedule / Shift Primarily days.
Required Qualifications • Completion of an accredited Cardiovascular Technologist program or equivalent. • Strong understanding of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology. • Proficiency in sterile technique. • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. • Ability to remain calm and act decisively in emergency situations.
Experience • Previous experience working in a cardiac catheterization laboratory is required.
Certifications • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required. • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification required.
EMR / Systems General EMR charting experience is expected.
Unit / Specialty Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory (Cath Lab)
Floating / On-Call May be required to participate in an on-call rotation and/or float to related areas as needed.
