  • Job Summary
    The Echo Technologist is responsible for performing diagnostic echocardiographic procedures to evaluate cardiac anatomy and function. This role requires strong technical expertise, patient care skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with physicians and other healthcare professionals. The technologist ensures accurate imaging, maintains equipment, and supports patient safety and comfort throughout the procedure.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Perform echocardiograms, including transthoracic, stress, and transesophageal studies as ordered by physicians.
    2. Prepare patients for procedures, explaining the process and ensuring comfort and safety.
    3. Operate and maintain ultrasound equipment, ensuring high-quality imaging and accurate data acquisition.
    4. Record and analyze cardiac images, measurements, and Doppler data for physician interpretation.
    5. Collaborate with cardiologists and other healthcare providers to support patient diagnosis and treatment planning.
    6. Maintain patient records and documentation in compliance with hospital policies and regulatory standards.
    7. Adhere to infection control, safety protocols, and quality assurance procedures.
    8. Assist with training and mentoring of new staff or students as needed.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Cardiovascular Technology or related field.
    2. Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification.
    3. Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
    4. Strong knowledge of cardiac anatomy, physiology, and pathology.
    5. Excellent communication and patient care skills.
    6. Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.

    Preferred Qualifications (if any)
    1. Prior experience in a hospital or cardiology clinic setting.
    2. Advanced certification in echocardiography subspecialties (e.g., Adult Echocardiography, Pediatric Echocardiography).
    3. Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.

    Certifications (if any)
    1. RDCS or RCS certification – required.
    2. BLS certification – required.
    3. ACLS certification – preferred.
