  • Job Summary

    Phlebotomist needed for a contract job in Kenmore Sq. Boston, Mass.

    M-F 11:00am to 7:30pm

    Seeking an experienced Phlebotomist for a full-time contract position in Concord, MA. This role involves performing venipuncture and capillary blood collection procedures on patients across all age groups in a clinical setting. The ideal candidate will be comfortable working with infants, children, and adults, and must be skilled in heel stick procedures.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Perform venous blood collection using standard needle and syringe or multi-tube needle holder
    • Perform capillary blood collection for direct testing or collection into tubes
    • Draw blood samples from infants, pediatric, and adult patients
    • Execute heel stick procedures with proficiency
    • Ensure specimens meet testing criteria including correct tubes, proper volume, and handling requirements
    • Follow proper specimen handling and labeling protocols
    • Verify patient identification accurately prior to procedures
    • Maintain and restock phlebotomy supplies as needed
    • Report inventory shortages in a timely manner

    Required Qualifications
    • Proven experience performing venipuncture and capillary procedures on patients of all age groups
    • Experience with heel stick blood collection techniques
    • Knowledge of specimen handling, labeling, and processing procedures
    • Strong attention to detail and patient safety
    • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Prior experience in a hospital or clinical laboratory setting

    Certifications
    • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) preferred

     





    Key Responsibilities
    • Perform venous access procedures on infants, pediatric, and adult patients using standard needle and syringe and multi-tube needle holders
    • Perform capillary access procedures on infants, pediatric, and adult patients, collecting samples for immediate testing or into collection tubes
    • Ensure proper identification and verification of patients before collecting samples
    • Assess and verify sample integrity, correct tube type, sufficient volume, and appropriate dilution for anticoagulated specimens
    • Handle specimens in accordance with established protocols and testing requirements
    • Maintain sufficient stock of all phlebotomy supplies and monitor inventory
    • Ensure samples meet all quality requirements before submission for testing
    • Maintain accurate and thorough documentation in patient medical records
    • Understand laboratory requisition processes and ensure accurate billing documentation
    • Adhere to safety protocols and regulatory requirements to maintain a healthy work environment

    Required Qualifications
    • High school diploma or equivalent
    • Phlebotomy training or certification
    • Ability to perform pediatric and adult blood draws
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
    • Able to rotate between different work locations and adapt to schedule changes
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
    • Basic knowledge of medical terminology and laboratory requisitioning

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Prior experience in pediatric phlebotomy
    • Experience working in multiple clinical or outpatient settings

    Certifications
    • Phlebotomy certification (national or state-recognized preferred)
    • CPR certification (preferred)
