  • Job Summary
    The Pharmacy Tech I – Filling Technician is responsible for accurately selecting, packaging, and labeling medications under the direct supervision of a pharmacist. This role supports pharmacy operations by maintaining inventory, ensuring compliance with safety standards, and contributing to efficient workflow in a fast-paced environment.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Select, pick, package, and label medications and ancillary supplies per prescription.
    2. Accurately count medications using manual and automated counting devices.
    3. Restock the filling station with medications and supplies as needed.
    4. Handle hazardous medications and follow hand-sanitization procedures according to safety standards.
    5. Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with production and regulatory requirements.
    6. Clean and maintain pill counters, equipment, and work areas.
    7. Assist Operations Assistant/Materials Coordinator with packing and shipping tasks.
    8. Adhere to pharmacy laws, guidelines, and safety-sensitive protocols.
    9. Support inventory control processes and contribute to efficient pharmacy workflow.
    10. Stand for extended periods (8–10 hours) and lift 5–10 lbs repeatedly; occasionally lift 30–50 lbs unassisted.
    11. Work near moving machinery (conveyors) and wear protective equipment when required.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Verifiable High School Diploma or GED.
    2. Active State Pharmacy Technician License.
    3. Minimum 3 months of experience as a pharmacy technician.
    4. Basic knowledge of drug names, pharmacy terminology, and dispensing processes.
    5. Ability to use computers for accurate data entry.
    6. Strong collaboration skills and ability to follow direction.
    7. Understanding of role limitations and ability to escalate issues appropriately.
    8. Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.

    Preferred Qualifications (if any)
    1. Experience in pick/pack/ship environments.
    2. Familiarity with pharmacy workflow and dispensing processes.

    Certifications (if any)
    1. National Pharmacy Technician Certification not accepted.
