  • Job Summary
    The Educational Counselor provides ongoing academic, pragmatic, and social-emotional support to students with complex learning profiles throughout the school day, based on program needs. This role involves offering instructional support inside and outside the classroom, designing and implementing activities or classes, and collaborating closely with academic and clinical team members. The counselor also attends meetings, prepares and maintains classrooms, and contributes to the development of students in a child-centered, therapeutic school environment.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Support teachers in the implementation of curriculum
    2. Assist teachers, clinicians, and administrators in maintaining a safe and nurturing environment
    3. Provide academic support, accommodations, and modifications as needed
    4. Facilitate students’ transitions between classes and throughout the building
    5. Supervise and implement coverage activities during staff absences
    6. Supervise students in all school locations, including arrival and dismissal
    7. Provide ongoing social-emotional support to students in the classroom and milieu
    8. Design and implement activities/classes under supervision, as needed
    9. Complete student-related documentation as required
    10. Prepare and maintain classrooms and milieu for daily use
    11. Proctor testing sessions, ensuring IEP-mandated accommodations are provided
    12. Model appropriate social cues and body language, offering social pragmatic support as needed
    13. Perform other duties as assigned
    14. Comply with all school policies and standards

    Required Qualifications
    1. Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (preferred)
    2. Experience with children and/or adolescents (0–1 year preferred)
    3. Flexibility, collaborative mindset, and willingness to learn
    4. Ability to work effectively with academic and clinical team members
    5. Commitment to professional growth and competency
    6. Positive and professional behavior toward students, parents, and staff
    7. Responsiveness to supervision and feedback

    Preferred Qualifications (if any)
    1. Prior experience in a therapeutic or special education setting
    2. Familiarity with individualized education plans (IEPs) and accommodations
