Job Summary
The Medical Assistant plays a crucial role in supporting the smooth and efficient operations of the practice, contributing to the mission of providing extraordinary care. In addition to performing clinical duties, this role includes administrative responsibilities such as greeting patients, checking them in, and scheduling appointments. The Medical Assistant assists patients with physical and psychological limitations and enhances the overall patient care experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Patient Interaction: Greet and check in patients courteously, ensuring a positive experience both in person and over the phone.
- Medical Assisting Duties: Take vital signs, measure height and weight, conduct EKGs, and assist during routine medical procedures.
- Phlebotomy: Perform blood draws and assist with specimen collection.
- Point-of-Care Testing: Conduct lab tests and diagnostic procedures, ensuring quality control standards are met.
- Patient Care: Assist patients with ambulation and activities of daily living while maintaining a compassionate approach.
- Administrative Support: Manage scheduling, patient documentation, and coordination of care.
- Test Instructions: Provide patients with clear instructions for specific tests and procedures.
- Quality Control: Implement and monitor quality control standards for testing equipment to ensure accuracy.
- Orientation and Training: Participate in weekly orientation sessions (every Monday, barring holidays) to stay updated on clinic operations and procedures.
Required Qualifications
- Current Medical Assistant (MA) certification.
- COVID-19 vaccination (including booster) and flu vaccination required; medical exemptions may be accepted.
- Prior experience in a medical office setting preferred.
- Must not have worked for the client as a permanent or per diem employee within the last year; a separation period of at least one year is required.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Strong patient interaction and customer service skills.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
Certifications (if any)
- Medical Assistant (MA) certification required.
- BLS certification may be required depending on facility standards.
