  • Job Summary
    The Sterile Processing Quality Control Technician ensures the highest standards of instrument cleanliness, assembly accuracy, and quality assurance in sterile processing operations. This role combines hands-on technical responsibilities with detailed inspection and documentation tasks critical to patient safety and process reliability. The position emphasizes quality assurance beyond standard sterile processing duties, ensuring compliance with regulatory and internal standards while maintaining an unwavering commitment to safety and process excellence.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Follow ANSI/AAMI standards, manufacturer Instructions for Use (IFUs), SOPs, and company Work Instructions.
    2. Decontaminate surgical instruments and equipment using proper PPE and protocols.
    3. Disassemble, clean, and reassemble complex surgical insruments.
    4. Accurately assemble and package instrument trays and sets per guidelines.
    5. Operate washers, sterilizers, and other processing equipment safely and effectively.
    6. Inspect instruments for cleanliness, functionality, and damage prior to packaging.
    7. Document missing or damaged instruments per SOPs.
    8. Maintain accurate records of sterilization cycles, instrument tracking, and inventory levels.
    9. Handle instruments and customer-owned items with care to prevent damage.
    10. Perform daily computer tasks and paperwork related to processing and tracking.
    11. Monitor and maintain instrument and supply inventory levels.
    12. Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of sterilization equipment.
    13. Keep workstations and decontamination areas clean and organized.
    14. Adhere to company quality standards and infection control procedures.
    15. Communicate effectively with internal team members, operations personnel, and distribution staff.
    16. Provide feedback and suggest workflow improvements.
    17. Participate in ongoing training and development to maintain certifications and competencies.
    18. Perform other duties as assigned by management.

    Required Qualifications
    1. High School Diploma or equivalent.
    2. Two (2) years of hands-on experience in sterile processing, with proficiency in decontamination, assembly, and sterilization procedures.
    3. General knowledge of surgical instruments and processing protocols.
    4. Knowledge of sterilization techniques, including steam sterilization and infection control practices.
    5. Familiarity with ANSI/AAMI standards and manufacturer IFUs.
    6. Skill in operating washer disinfectors, autoclaves, and related equipment.
    7. Strong manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
    8. Ability to multitask, prioritize, and meet deadlines under pressure.
    9. Basic proficiency with personal computers and electronic data systems.
    10. Effective verbal and written communication skills.
    11. Willingness to receive required vaccinations and health screenings.
    12. Professionalism, reliability, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
