    JOB SUMMARY
    Performs a variety of patient care activities as delegated by the RN and within the scope of practice for a Surgical Technician. Assists the surgical team by preparing the operating room, providing necessary instruments and supplies, and maintaining a sterile environment during surgical procedures.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary equipment, instruments, and supplies are readily available and sterile.
    • Assist surgeons and surgical staff during operative procedures by anticipating needs and providing instruments, supplies, and sponges as required.
    • Maintain a sterile field throughout surgical procedures, ensuring proper technique and gowning/gloving protocols are followed.
    • Position patients for surgery, ensuring comfort and safety.
    • Perform surgical counts of sponges, needles, and instruments before, during, and after procedures.
    • Assist with the cleaning and sterilization of surgical instruments and equipment.
    • Transport patients to and from the operating room.
    • Document patient care activities accurately and timely in the patient’s medical record.
    • Adhere to all facility policies, procedures, and safety protocols.

    Schedule / Shift
    • Full-time position, may include days, evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays as per departmental needs.

    Required Qualifications
    • High School Diploma or GED.
    • Successful completion of an accredited Surgical Technology program.
    • Current BLS certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.

    Experience
    • Previous experience as a Surgical Technician is preferred.

    Skills
    • Proficiency in sterile technique and aseptic principles.
    • Knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
    • Ability to anticipate the needs of the surgical team.
    • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
