  • JOB TITLE: LVN - Med-Surg Specialty
    JOB SUMMARY
    Provide direct nursing care to patients in the Med-Surg specialty unit. Responsibilities include patient assessment, treatment, and education, as well as collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

    Ortho/Surgical

    Key Responsibilities
    - Perform patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
    - Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
    - Monitor patient vital signs and response to treatment.
    - Educate patients and families on health conditions and treatment plans.
    - Document patient care accurately and thoroughly in the EMR system.
    - Collaborate with physicians, RNs, and other healthcare professionals.
    - Participate in patient care conferences.
    - Maintain a safe and clean patient environment.
    - Adhere to hospital policies and procedures.

    Schedule / Shift
    - 13-week contract
    - Day Shift: 7:00 AM - 7:00 PM
    - Weekend shifts required (4 weekend shifts in a schedule or 2 full weekends)

    Required Qualifications
    - Active TX LVN License
    - BLS Certification

    Experience
    - Experience in a Med-Surg setting is required.
    - Experience with Orthopedic and Bariatric procedures is preferred.
    - Experience with General Surgery procedures is preferred.

    Skills
    - Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
    - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    - Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
    - Proficient in EMR documentation.
    - Knowledge of Hospira pumps.
    - Familiarity with iMobile phones.

    EMR / Systems
    - MEDITECH

    Patient Population
    - Adult patients undergoing Bariatric, Orthopedic, and General Surgeries.

    Unit / Specialty
    - Ortho/Surgical

    Floating / On-Call
    - Expected to float to Med/Renal, Oncology, Med/Surg Tele, CVTS, and Telemetry units.
    - Weekend rotation is required as per schedule.
