  • Job Summary
    The Environmental Services (EVS) Cleaner is responsible for maintaining a clean, safe, and sanitary environment throughout the facility. This role supports infection control and overall patient, visitor, and staff safety by ensuring all areas are properly cleaned and maintained according to hospital and regulatory standards. The EVS Cleaner plays an essential role in creating a welcoming and healthy environment for all.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Clean and sanitize patient rooms, restrooms, offices, hallways, and common areas according to established protocols.
    2. Perform terminal cleaning of patient rooms following discharge or transfer.
    3. Safely handle and dispose of infectious waste, trash, and linen in accordance with safety and infection control guidelines.
    4. Replenish supplies such as soap, paper towels, and toilet tissue as needed.
    5. Operate cleaning equipment including vacuums, floor scrubbers, and buffers.
    6. Follow all chemical safety and hazard communication procedures.
    7. Report maintenance issues, safety hazards, or damaged equipment promptly.
    8. Maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and a customer-service-oriented approach in all interactions.
    9. Adhere to departmental schedules and complete assigned cleaning tasks efficiently.

    Required Qualifications
    1. High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
    2. Previous experience in housekeeping, janitorial, or environmental services roles preferred but not required.
    3. Ability to read and follow written instructions, policies, and safety procedures.
    4. Strong attention to detail and commitment to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
    5. Physically able to stand, bend, lift, and move objects as required for extended periods.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Prior experience in a hospital, healthcare facility, or similar environment preferred.
    2. Knowledge of infection control and hospital sanitation standards.
    3. Familiarity with the use of floor care machines and cleaning chemicals.

    Certifications
    1. No formal certifications required.
    2. OSHA safety or infection control training preferred (may be provided after hire).
