Job Summary
The Registered Nurse in the Telemetry unit provides specialized nursing care to patients requiring continuous cardiac and vital sign monitoring. This role focuses on patient safety, accurate assessment, timely interventions, and effective communication with the healthcare team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct nursing care to patients in the telemetry unit, ensuring adherence to hospital policies and standards of care.
- Monitor patients using telemetry equipment, interpreting cardiac rhythms and vital signs.
- Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed, including IV therapy.
- patient assessments and document findings accurately in the electronic medical record.
- Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
- Educate patients and families on cardiac health, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
- Maintain a safe and clean environment, ensuring compliance with infection control standards.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and unit-based projects.
Required Qualifications
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Active Registered Nurse License in the state of practice.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification.
- Proficiency in interpreting cardiac rhythms and telemetry monitoring.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
- Prior experience in a cardiac step-down or intensive care unit.
- Certification in cardiac or telemetry nursing.
