  • JOB SUMMARY  

    The LVN/LPN – Medical Surgical Nurse provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or physician in a medical-surgical unit. This role involves assisting with patient assessments, administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and supporting patients through preand post-operative care. The LVN/LPN plays a key role in ensuring patient comfort, safety, and recovery while maintaining accurate documentation and collaborating with the healthcare team.

    Key Responsibilities  
    • Monitor and record patient vital signs and report abnormalities to supervising staff  
    • Assist with patient hygiene, mobility, and daily living activities  
    • Administer medications and injections as prescribed  
    • Change wound dressings and assist with other basic medical procedures  
    • Prepare patients for surgical procedures and assist in post-operative care  
    • Provide emotional support and education to patients and their families  
    • Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records and documentation  
    • Collaborate with RNs and physicians to implement patient care plans  
    • Ensure adherence to infection control and safety protocols  
    Required Qualifications  
    • Completion of an accredited Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) program  
    • Current and valid LVN or LPN license  
    • Current CPR/BLS certification  
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills  
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment  
    • Basic knowledge of medical-surgical nursing practices  
    Preferred Qualifications  
    • Previous experience in a medical-surgical or acute care setting  
    • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems  
    Certifications  
    • Basic Life Support (BLS)  
    • IV Therapy Certification (if required by state regulations)
