Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to join our Medical Surgical/Orthopedic team. The RN will deliver high-quality, evidence-based nursing care to patients across multiple inpatient units, including Medical, Surgical/Pediatrics, Ortho/Neuro, and Sub-Acute Units. This position is ideal for nurses with strong clinical skills, flexibility, and a passion for providing exceptional patient care in a collaborative hospital environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize the nursing process to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with established policies, procedures, and state nursing practice standards.
- Develop, initiate, and carry out individualized plans of care based on physician orders and patient needs.
- Accurately document assessments, interventions, and outcomes according to hospital and regulatory standards.
- Provide patient and family education regarding care plans, medications, and discharge instructions.
- Participate in performance improvement and shared governance initiatives within the unit.
- Apply critical thinking skills to ensure patient safety and enhance the overall patient experience.
- Float as needed to support Medical, Surgical/Peds, Ortho/Neuro, and Sub-Acute Units.
- Work collaboratively with other departments to ensure continuity of care and optimal patient outcomes.
Required Qualifications
- Licensure: Current and unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State.
Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR certification (required).
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification (required).
- Experience: Minimum of 1–2 years of recent acute care or medical-surgical nursing experience.
- Vaccination: Must be vaccinated for Influenza (Flu) in accordance with facility requirements.
- Strong clinical assessment, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to changing patient care needs and float between multiple inpatient units.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience in orthopedic, neurological, or surgical nursing settings.
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems (Epic preferred).
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
Certifications
- Required: BLS/CPR, NIHSS
- Preferred: ACLS
