  • Job Summary  
    The PACU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgical or diagnostic procedures. This role requires strong clinical skills, critical thinking, and the ability to respond quickly to changes in patient condition. The RN works collaboratively with physicians, anesthesiologists, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure safe, high-quality patient care in a fast-paced environment.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Provide direct patient care in the Post-Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU).
    2. Monitor patients’ vital signs and recovery status following anesthesia.
    3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
    4. Assess patient responses and intervene promptly when necessary.
    5. Collaborate with physicians and anesthesiologists to manage patient recovery.
    6. Educate patients and families on post-operative care and discharge instructions.
    7. Maintain accurate documentation of patient care and interventions.
    8. Ensure adherence to infection control and patient safety protocols.
    9. Support patient transfers and coordinate care with surgical and recovery teams.
    10. Perform additional duties as assigned.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
    2. Current RN license issued by the applicable state board of nursing.
    3. Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
    4. Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
    5. Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
    6. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
    7. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
    2. Prior experience in PACU, ICU, or emergency nursing.
    3. Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification, if applicable.

    Certifications
    1. RN license (state-specific).
    2. BLS certification (American Heart Association).
    3. ACLS certification (American Heart Association).
    4. PALS certification preferred.
