Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Echocardiography Technician to perform high-quality diagnostic ultrasound procedures in the evaluation of patients’ heart health. The technician will be responsible for performing echocardiograms, documenting findings, and assisting physicians in diagnosing heart conditions. This role requires attention to detail, patient care skills, and proficiency with diagnostic equipment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform Echocardiograms:
- Conduct echocardiographic examinations, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiograms, to assess heart function and structure.
- Ensure accurate positioning and equipment settings to obtain high-quality images.
- Patient Care:
- Prepare patients for echocardiograms by explaining procedures and making them feel comfortable.
- Monitor patient status during the procedue and report any concerns to the supervising physician.
- Documentation & Reporting:
- Document examination results accurately, ensuring proper coding and reporting of findings.
- Provide preliminary interpretations to the physician, identifying any abnormal results that require immediate attention.
- Equipment Maintenance:
- Maintain and troubleshoot echocardiography equipment to ensure it is in proper working condition.
- Ensure cleanliness and sterilization of the equipment and examination area.
- Collaboration & Communication:
- Work closely with cardiologists, physicians, and other medical staff to provide comprehensive care for patients.
- Communicate findings and concerns effectively to healthcare teams.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
- Completion of an accredited echocardiography program or equivalent training.
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Experience:
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Skills:
- Proficiency in operating echocardiography equipment and understanding of diagnostic procedures.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with patients and healthcare teams.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification by the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS) or Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI) preferred.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle stressful situations with professionalism.
- Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
Certifications:
- Required: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Preferred: Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) certification.
