JOB SUMMARY
Child Life Specialist I provides and promotes effective coping for pediatric patients through play, preparation, education, and self-expression activities. Ensures a supportive and therapeutic environment that helps reduce stress and enhances understanding for patients and their families during medical care and treatment.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess patients within 24 hours of admission or consult
- Develop and implement individualized psychosocial care plans aligned with medical and developmental needs
- Create a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment for pediatric patients and families
- Support emotional well-being by reducing stress and improving understanding of medical procedures
- Facilitate play-based interventions and psychological preparation activities
- Participate in child life special events and programs
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care
- Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all organizational policies and standards
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field
- CCLS (Certified Child Life Specialist) certification required
- Strong understanding of child development and psychosocial care principles
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively with pediatric patients and families in a healthcare setting

Master’s Degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field
