Job Description:

  • JOB SUMMARY  
     Child Life Specialist I provides and promotes effective coping for pediatric patients through play, preparation, education, and self-expression activities. Ensures a supportive and therapeutic environment that helps reduce stress and enhances understanding for patients and their families during medical care and treatment.

    Key Responsibilities  
    • Assess patients within 24 hours of admission or consult  
    • Develop and implement individualized psychosocial care plans aligned with medical and developmental needs  
    • Create a safe, therapeutic, and healing environment for pediatric patients and families  
    • Support emotional well-being by reducing stress and improving understanding of medical procedures  
    • Facilitate play-based interventions and psychological preparation activities  
    • Participate in child life special events and programs  
    • Collaborate with healthcare teams to ensure comprehensive patient care  
    • Perform other duties as assigned and comply with all organizational policies and standards  
    Required Qualifications  
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field  
    • CCLS (Certified Child Life Specialist) certification required  
    • Strong understanding of child development and psychosocial care principles  
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills  
    • Ability to work effectively with pediatric patients and families in a healthcare setting  
    Preferred Qualifications  
    Master’s Degree in Child Life, Child Development, or a related field  

    Certifications  
    Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) – Child Life Certifying Committee (CLCC)
