JOB SUMMARY
The Registered Nurse – Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) provides specialized care to critically ill infants, children, and adolescents in a high-acuity environment. This role requires advanced clinical skills, emotional resilience, and the ability to collaborate with pediatric specialists and families to deliver compassionate, evidence-based care.
Key Responsibilities
- Monitor and assess pediatric patients with complex and life-threatening conditions.
- Administer medications, treatments, and life-support interventions as prescribed.
- Collaborate with pediatricians, intensivists, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans.
- Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately.
- Educate families on diagnoses, procedures, and post-discharge care.
- Respond to emergencies and changes in patient condition with appropriate interventions.
- Maintain compliance with hospital protocols, safety standards, and infection control procedures.
- Support a healing environment through childand family-centered care.
Required Qualifications
- 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
- Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
- Basic Life Support (BLS).
- Pediatric Advanced Cardiac Life Support (PALS).
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field.
