Job Summary
The Pediatric Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to infants, children, and adolescents in a healthcare setting. This role ensures safe, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate care while collaborating with physicians, families, and interdisciplinary teams to promote positive health outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver direct patient care, including assessments, medication administration, and treatment procedures for pediatric patients
- Monitor patient conditions, document changes, and communicate effectively with physicians and caregivers
- Support families by educating them on treatment plans, preventive care, and home management strategies
- Collaborate with pediatricians and healthcare teams to develop and implement individualized care plans
- Maintain infection control practices and adhere to facility policies and regulatory requirements
- Provide emotional support to children and families, ensuring a safe and comforting environment
- Supervise and guide nursing assistants and support staff in pediatric care practices
Required Qualifications
- Education: Associate or Bachelor of Science in Nursing (ASN/BSN)
- Experience: Prior experience in pediatric nursing or healthcare setting preferred
- Skills: Strong clinical assessment abilities, communication skills, and ability to work effectively with children and families
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Experience in pediatric specialty units (e.g., neonatal, oncology, cardiology)
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems
- Advanced pediatric life support training
Certifications (if any)
- Active Registered Nurse (RN) License in applicable state
- Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification
