The Registered Nurse – Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU) provides specialized, high-acuity care to patients recovering from complex cardiac procedures, including open-heart surgery, heart failure management, and advanced cardiac interventions. This role demands critical thinking, precision, and the ability to respond rapidly to changes in patient condition while working closely with cardiologists, intensivists, and multidisciplinary teams.

• Monitor and assess critically ill cardiovascular patients using advanced hemodynamic and telemetry equipment.
• Administer medications, IV therapies, and life-support interventions as prescribed.
• Collaborate with cardiac surgeons, physicians, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement individualized care plans.
• Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely.
• Respond to emergencies and changes in patient condition with appropriate clinical interventions.
• Educate patients and families on cardiac conditions, procedures, and recovery expectations.
• Maintain compliance with hospital protocols, safety standards, and infection control procedures.
• Participate in continuing education and quality improvement initiatives.

• 1-year recent (within the last 3 years) full-time equivalent experience in critical care or cardiovascular nursing.
• Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Registered Nurse License (in the state where care is provided).
• Basic Life Support (BLS).
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing or related field.
• Prior experience in CVICU or cardiac surgery recovery preferred.
• CCRN certification preferred.
