Job Summary
The Registered Dietitian provides evidence-based nutritional care and counseling to patients, families, and staff. This role is responsible for assessing nutritional needs, developing individualized care plans, and monitoring patient progress to promote optimal health outcomes. The dietitian collaborates with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to ensure comprehensive patient care and adherence to regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess nutritional status of patients through medical history, lab values, and dietary intake.
- Develop and implement individualized nutrition care plans.
- Provide nutrition counseling and education to patients, families, and staff.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to coordinate patient care.
- Monitor patient progress and adjust nutrition plans as needed.
- Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes in the electronic medical record.
- Ensure compliance with hospital, departmental, and regulatory standards.
- Participate in patient rounds, case conferences, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Support community outreach and wellness programs as assigned.
- Stay current with evidence-based nutrition practices and participate in continuing education.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
- Completion of an accredited dietetic internship program.
- Registered Dietitian (RD) credential through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR).
- State licensure (if applicable).
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Nutrition, Dietetics, or related field.
- Experience in clinical nutrition within hospital or healthcare settings.
- Specialized certification (e.g., Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist, Pediatric Nutrition Specialist).
