Job Description:

  • Role Purpose
    The Occupational Registered Nurse provides nursing assessments, treatments, and recommendations for Corning employees related to illness or injury within the RN scope of practice. Responsibilities include medical care, documentation, treatment planning, and performing interventions while ensuring compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA) or similar governing regulations.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Document employee care and maintain records in compliance with OSHA and privacy regulations.
    2. Support Emergency Response programs at the site.
    3. Guide disability process and coordinate with insurance carriers, Benefits, Workers’ Compensation, Safety, and physicians.
    4. Manage absence through Corning’s PIIM program, enabling early safe return to work with accommodations.
    5. Track FMLA requests based on medical information and company/legal protocols.
    6. Perform surveillance exams as required by OSHA or similar standards.
    7. Participate in health programs such as smoking cessation, fitness, blood drives, flu shots, and wellness initiatives.
    8. Support pandemic preparedness planning and execution.
    9. Coordinate with external providers as needed.
    10. Manage medical inventory for the site.

    Required Qualifications
    • BSN – Bachelor’s degree in Nursing.
    • Minimum 5+ years of RN experience; occupational health experience preferred.
    • current state RN license.
    • Current CPR certification.
    • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, and EMR systems.

    Desired Qualifications
    1. Certified Occupational Health Nurse (COHN/COHN-S).
    2. Experience in Emergency Room, ICU, or Med/Surg nursing.
    3. Experience in manufacturing or corporate health environments.
    4. Creative in promoting health and safety activities.
