Job Summary
The Behavioral Health Technician is responsible for conducting functional analyses of patient behavior, participating as a member of the treatment team, contributing to the master treatment plan, and implementing appropriate interventions. This role involves facilitating individual and group psychoeducation, leisure activities, and life-skill training and coaching for patients. The Behavioral Health Technician also ensures patient and unit safety through continuous monitoring and support.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct functional analyses of patient behavior and implement appropriate interventions.
- Participate in treatment team meetings and contribute to master treatment plans.
- Facilitate individual and group psychoeducation sessions.
- Lead leisure activities and life-skill training to support patient development.
- Monitor patient and unit safety, responding promptly to behavioral or safety concerns.
- Document patient progress and interventions in compliance with facility standards.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to ensure comprehensive patient care.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 1 year of recent experience in an inpatient psychiatric setting.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association.
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) certification.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Travel experience required.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.
- Previous travel or contract experience in behavioral health settings.
Certifications (if any)
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) required.
- CPI certification required.
