Job Summary:
Under general supervision, the Surgical ICU Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care to patients with complex health issues in a hospital setting.
This role requires managing patient care plans, documenting responses, administering treatments, and supporting patients and families through the care process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee an assigned group of patients, ensuring thorough documentation of responses to treatments and interventions.
- Assist physicians in patient examinations and minor procedures, providing accurate data and patient information.
- Monitor and obtain physiological data, observing patients' conditions and intervening as needed.
- Administer prescribed medications, initiate, regulate, and monitor IV infusions and blood products.
- Communicate care plans with patients and families, ensuring understanding of hospital procedures.
- Provide discharge planning and education to patients and families.
- Refer patient care needs to the appropriate personnel and delegate tasks to support staff as necessary.
- Perform additional duties as assigned to support patient care and unit needs.
Required Qualifications:
- Associate’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current RN License from the Oklahoma State Board of Nursing or a multistate compact RN License (eNLC).
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
- Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience.
- Strong knowledge of nursing theory, practices, techniques, and procedures.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills to effectively support patients and collaborate with the healthcare team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or higher from a Board-approved program.
