Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Technologist I provides safe, high-quality, and cost-effective patient-centric care under routine and emergent conditions across various care settings, including acute inpatient facilities, outpatient practices, diagnostic centers, and statewide outreach clinics. This entry-level role utilizes specialized cardiovascular and radiologic equipment to perform diagnostic, interventional, and surgical procedures while collaborating with patients, families, and multidisciplinary teams to achieve optimal outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare patients for cardiovascular procedures and correlate clinical history with physician orders.
- Communicate and collaborate with patients, families, and care teams to implement care plans.
- Operate specialized cardiovascular and/or radiologic equipment to perform diagnostic and interventional procedures.
- Conduct post-procedure reviews to ensure documentation and technical quality meet department protocols and accreditation standards.
- Transfer images and data to archival systems, enter technical findings, and prepare studies for physician reporting.
- Perform operator-level quality control checks, cleaning, disinfecting, and user maintenance per manufacturer and regulatory guidelines.
- Participate in continuing education, professional development, and research activities to maintain competencies.
- Support STEMI, Shock, VAD, ECMO, and Structural Heart procedures in the cath lab.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or higher required.
- Completion of one of the following:
- Graduate of a CAAHEP-accredited cardiovascular program.
- Graduate of a JRCERT-accredited radiologic technology program.
- Completion of a Paramedic training program.
- Minimum of 2 recent years of cath lab experience.
- Ability to work call rotations (evenings and weekends).
- Experience with Level 1 trauma environments.
- Strong knowledge of cardiovascular procedures and imaging systems.
- Proficiency in Epic documentation and Xper hemosystem.
Preferred Qualifications
- Travel experience.
- Experience with Philips imaging systems; familiarity with Siemens equipment is a plus.
Certifications
- Relevant cardiovascular or radiologic certifications required (e.g., ARRT R).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification preferred.
