  • Job Summary
    The Operating Room Registered Nurse is responsible for delivering high-quality, patient-centered care during surgical procedures. This role involves preparing the OR, assisting the surgical team during operations, and ensuring patient safety and comfort throughout the perioperative process. The RN works closely with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and surgical technologists to coordinate care efficiently in a fast-paced environment.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Prepare the operating room with necessary surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies.
    2. Assist in patient positioning, prepping, and draping in accordance with established protocols.
    3. Provide direct assistance to surgeons and anesthesia providers during procedures.
    4. Monitor patients’ vital signs and overall condition throughout surgery.
    5. Maintain sterile technique and ensure adherence to infection control standards.
    6. Perform sponge, needle, and instrument counts according to policy.
    7. Document all intraoperative care accurately in the patient’s medical record.
    8. Communicate effectively with the surgical team to anticipate and meet patient needs.
    9. Ensure proper post-operative handoff to the recovery team.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Current Registered Nurse (RN) license.
    2. Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room or perioperative nursing experience.
    3. Strong knowledge of aseptic technique and surgical procedures.
    4. Ability to remain focused and responsive in high-pressure situations.
    5. Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Experience with multiple surgical specialties (e.g., orthopedics, cardiovascular, neurosurgery).
    2. Familiarity with electronic medical record (EMR) systems.

    Certifications
    1. Valid  BLS and ACLS certifications required.
    2. CNOR (Certified Perioperative Nurse) certification preferred.
