Job Summary
The Cardiovascular Ultrasound Technician is responsible for performing diagnostic ultrasound examinations of the heart and vascular system. This role supports physicians in diagnosing and treating cardiovascular conditions by producing high-quality imaging and ensuring patient comfort and safety during procedures.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform echocardiograms and vascular ultrasound studies as ordered by physicians.
- Operate ultrasound equipment and ensure proper calibration and maintenance.
- Prepare patients for procedures, explain processes, and address concerns.
- Capture and analyze images to assist in accurate diagnosis.
- Document findings and maintain patient records in compliance with healthcare standards.
- Collaborate with cardiologists, nurses, and other medical staff to support patient care.
- Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a sterile environment.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Diagnostic Medical Sonography or related field.
- Completion of an accredited cardiovascular ultrasound program.
- Strong knowledge of cardiac and vascular anatomy and physiology.
- Proficiency in operating ultrasound equipment and related technology.
- Excellent communication and patient care skills.
Preferred Qualifications (if any)
- Prior experience working in a hospital or cardiovascular clinic.
- Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple cases efficiently.
Certifications (if any)
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) certification preferred.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.
