Job Summary
The RN Emergency Department provides direct patient care in a fast-paced hospital setting, caring for individuals experiencing urgent and emergent medical conditions. This role requires strong clinical judgment, rapid decision-making, and the ability to deliver safe, effective care under pressure while collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide nursing care to patients presenting with emergency medical needs.
- Assess, monitor, and document patient condition and responses to interventions.
- Administer medications, IV infusions, and blood products as ordered.
- Assist physicians during examinations, procedures, and emergency interventions.
- Monitor physiological data and intervene promptly when required.
- Communicate patient care plans with patients and families.
- Educate patients and families on hospital procedures and discharge instructions.
- Delegate tasks to support staff and ensure efficient team coordination.
- Maintain compliance with hospital policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
Education
- Required: Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
- Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
Required Skills & Experience
- Must have at least 2 years of recent experience in the specialty within the past 2 years.
- Knowledge of nursing practices, procedures, and emergency patient care techniques.
- Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate nursing services in high-stress situations.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively with diverse patient populations.
- Basic computer skills.
Certifications & Licensure
- Active RN License (State Board of Nursing or Multistate Compact RN License).
- Basic Life Support (BLS) – American Heart Association.
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) required.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred.
