  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse in the NICU is responsible for monitoring and managing critically ill neonates and pediatric patients. This role requires administering complex medications, operating advanced life support equipment, performing specialized procedures, and collaborating with an interdisciplinary team to provide high-quality, compassionate care. The RN also supports families emotionally and educationally while maintaining meticulous documentation and adhering to safety protocols.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Monitor and manage critically ill neonates and pediatric patients.
    2. Administer medications, including vasoactive drips and sedatives.
    3. Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain advanced life support equipment such as ventilators and ECMO.
    4. Perform and assist with procedures including intubation, central line placement, and lumbar puncture.
    5. Continuously assess patient conditions and respond promptly to rapid changes.
    6. Collaborate closely with physicians, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other team members.
    7. Provide emotional support and education to patients’ families.
    8. Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all patient care activities.
    9. Participate in code blue and emergency response situations.
    10. Implement and enforce infection control and safety protocols.
    11. Prepare and manage complex medication infusions and titrations.
    12. Deliver age-appropriate care ranging from neonates to adolescents.
    13. Assist in the transport of critically ill patients within the hospital or to other facilities.
    14. Engage in unit-based quality improvement initiatives and continuing education programs.
    15. Ensure proper use and maintenance of all medical equipment.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Current RN license.
    2. Experience in neonatal and pediatric critical care nursing.
    3. Proficiency with advanced life support equipment.
    4. Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
    5. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS).
    2. Experience in ECMO management or equivalent critical care support.

    Certifications
    1. NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) certification (preferred).
    2. PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification (preferred).
    3. BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required.
