  • JOB SUMMARY
    The Speech Pathologist will provide comprehensive speech-language pathology services to patients within the Inpatient Rehabilitation unit. This role focuses on assessing, diagnosing, and treating communication, swallowing, and cognitive disorders to improve patient function and quality of life.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Conduct bedside swallow evaluations (including MBSS and VITAL STIM procedures).
    • Perform comprehensive dysphagia assessments and develop treatment plans.
    • Provide cognitive assessment and treatment for patients with cognitive impairments.
    • Manage communication disorders, including aphasia, dysarthria, and apraxia.
    • Utilize BITS Visual and Cognitive Program as part of treatment.
    • Administer therapy utilizing equipment such as Vitalstim and Bioness.
    • Collaborate with interdisciplinary therapy staff (PT, PTA, OT, COTA, Techs) and nursing.
    • Document patient care accurately and in a timely manner within the EMR system.
    • Educate patients and families on communication and swallowing strategies.
    • Participate in patient care conferences.
    • Respond to urgent evaluations for swallow or diet concerns as needed.

    Schedule / Shift
    Day Shift: 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

    Experience
    • Experience with stroke rehabilitation.
    • Experience with TBI is preferred.

    Certifications
    • CCC (Certificate of Clinical Competence)

    Required Qualifications
    • Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited program.
    • Current Georgia (GA) State Licensure as a Speech Pathologist.
    • MBSS (Modified Barium Swallow Study) expertise.
    • Dysphagia assessment and treatment skills.
    • Cognitive assessment and treatment skills.
    • Stroke rehabilitation experience.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • VITAL STIM certification/experience.
    • TBI experience.
