Job Summary
The Registered Nurse in the Emergency Room provides rapid, expert nursing care to patients presenting with a wide range of urgent and emergent health conditions. This role involves assessing, stabilizing, and treating patients in a fast-paced environment while collaborating closely with the multidisciplinary emergency team to ensure high-quality care.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform rapid and thorough patient assessments upon arrival.
- Provide emergency nursing care including medication administration, wound care, and life-saving interventions.
- Monitor and document patient vital signs and clinical status continuously.
- Collaborate with physicians, paramedics, and other healthcare professionals to stabilize and treat patients.
- Assist with emergency procedures such as intubation, IV insertion, and cardiac monitoring.
- Educate patients and families about treatment plans and discharge instructions.
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR).
- Participate in code teams and emergency response protocols as needed.
- Adhere to infection control and safety standards.
Required Qualifications
- Current RN license.
- Experience in emergency nursing preferred but not always required for entry-level roles.
- Ability to perform under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certification in Emergency Nursing (CEN) is a plus.
Certifications
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required).
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification (required).
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification preferred.
