  • Job Summary
    The Registered Nurse – Medical/Surgical Telemetry provides comprehensive nursing care to patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and medical/surgical support. This role involves interpreting telemetry rhythms, managing pre- and post-procedural cardiac care, administering medications, and collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure safe and effective patient outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Provide nursing care to patients on a Medical/Surgical Telemetry unit
    2. Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms using telemetry systems
    3. Perform remote monitoring and communicate rhythm changes promptly
    4. Manage pre/post cardiac procedures including catheterization, surgery, and sheath removal
    5. Administer cardiac medications including titratable drips such as Diltiazem and Amiodarone
    6. Access and maintain ports/lines including implanted ports, central lines, and PICC lines
    7. Administer blood products and monitor for transfusion reactions
    8. Assess patient condition, monitor vital signs, and intervene when necessary
    9. Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement care plans
    10. Educate patients and families on conditions, procedures, medications, and discharge instructions

    Required Qualifications
    1. Minimum of 2 years nursing experience
    2. Unit will accept first-time travelers

    Skills required:
    1. Telemetry and stepdown experience (PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown)
    2. Interpretation of dysrhythmias and remote monitoring
    3. Pre/Post cardiac cath and surgery care including sheath removal
    4. Port access and line management
    5. Blood product administration
    6. Cardiac drip titration (Diltiazem, Amiodarone)

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Experience in medical/surgical telemetry units or cardiac stepdown care

    Certifications
    1. ACLS certification required
