JOB SUMMARY Seeking a skilled and dedicated Registered Nurse for a Travel RN position in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). This role involves providing specialized care to critically ill newborns and supporting their families.
Key Responsibilities - Provide direct patient care to neonates in the NICU, including monitoring, administering medications, and performing treatments. - Manage care for patients requiring CPAP, IVs, Hi Flow, and OG feeds. - Assist with the transition of babies at delivery and perform initial stabilization. - Administer surfactant. - Perform occasional umbilical venous catheterizations (UVCs) and chest tubes. - Collaborate with physicians, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans. - Educate and support families on infant care, medical conditions, and treatment plans. - Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation. - Ensure a safe and therapeutic environment for patients.
Required Qualifications - Must possess an active RN license at the time of submission. - 2 years of experience in a hospital setting is required. - Current BLS certification.
Experience - Minimum of 2 years of experience in a hospital setting. - Experience in a NICU setting is required. - Experience with mother/baby care is preferred and training may be provided.
Skills - Proficiency in Neonatal Intensive Care. - Ability to manage patients on CPAP and Hi Flow. - Experience with IV insertion and management. - Experience with OG tube insertion and management. - Ability to perform UVCs. - Experience administering surfactant. - Ability to perform chest tubes (occasional). - Strong assessment and critical thinking skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
EMR / Systems - CPN
Patient Population - Neonates up to 30 days old. - Patients requiring care for prematurity, respiratory distress, and other critical conditions. - Patients admitted from 32 weeks gestation and above.
Unit / Specialty - NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care Unit) - May also work on Mother/Baby unit as needed.
Floating / On-Call - Willingness to float to Mother/Baby unit is expected. - May be assigned to NICU based on patient census.
