  • Job Summary
    We are seeking a knowledgeable and compassionate Registered Nurse (RN) to provide preoperative care and preparation to patients undergoing surgical procedures. The RN will be responsible for assessing patients, educating them about their surgery, and ensuring all necessary pre-op protocols are followed to promote safe and efficient surgical outcomes.

    Key Responsibilities
    1. Perform comprehensive preoperative assessments, including medical history review, physical exams, and vital signs monitoring.
    2. Educate patients and their families about the surgical procedure, anesthesia, and pre- and post-operative care instructions.
    3. Verify patient identity, surgical site, and consent forms to ensure accuracy and compliance with safety protocols.
    4. Prepare patients physically and emotionally for surgery, including administering pre-op medications as prescribed.
    5. Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare staff to communicate patient status and care plans.
    6. Maintain accurate documentation of assessments, interventions, and patient education.
    7. Ensure the pre-op area is clean, organized, and stocked with necessary supplies.
    8. Monitor patients continuously while waiting for surgery and respond to any changes in condition.

    Required Qualifications
    1. Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
    2. Minimum of 1 year nursing experience, preferably in preoperative or surgical nursing.
    3. Strong clinical assessment and patient education skills.
    4. Ability to follow strict protocols and maintain patient safety.
    5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    6. Flexibility to work various shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.

    Preferred Qualifications
    1. Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
    2. Experience with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
    3. Knowledge of surgical instruments and sterile techniques.

    Certifications
    1. Basic Life Support (BLS) – Required
    2. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) – Preferred
    3. Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) – Preferred
