  • Job Summary:
    The Power Systems Engineer provides engineering support to enhance inverter-based resource (IBR) capabilities, focusing on voltage ride-through (VRT) and frequency ride-through (FRT) performance. This role involves conducting power system studies, ensuring compliance with Client requirements, and collaborating with internal teams and external stakeholders to support reliable grid operations and implementation of regulatory standards.

    Key Responsibilities:
    • Perform reliability power system studies including steady-state and dynamic stability analysis  
    • Assess impact of inverter-based resource VRT and FRT performance on the system  
    • Review technical submissions to ensure compliance with Client requirements  
    • Support development and implementation of processes and procedures for VRT and FRT standards  
    • Provide technical support to cross-functional teams for submission reviews and performance evaluations  
    • Collaborate with market participants to understand requirements and facilitate submissions  
    • Evaluate and recommend approval or rejection of extension and exemption requests  
    • Coordinate with internal teams to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements  
    • Serve as subject matter expert on VRT and FRT performance topics  
    • Support implementation of regulatory updates and revision requests  
    • Participate in stakeholder meetings and represent the organization as needed  

    Required Skills:
    • Strong understanding of power systems and grid reliability concepts  
    • Knowledge of inverter-based resources and renewable energy systems  
    • Analytical skills for system studies and performance evaluation  
    • Strong communication and collaboration skills  
    • Ability to interpret technical data and regulatory requirements  

    Preferred Skills:
    • Experience performing power system reliability studies  
    • Background in renewable energy (Wind, Solar, Battery storage)  
    • Experience with voltage analysis, relay protection, or protection settings  
    • Proficiency with tools such as Python, PowerWorld, PSS®E, or PSCAD  

    Education:
    Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field (required)
