Job Description:

  • Job Summary:
We are seeking a Software Development Engineer in Test (SDET) to design, build, and maintain reliable and scalable test automation for a ServiceNow platform. The role will leverage Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript to build a comprehensive test suite, with a strong focus on API testing, automation frameworks, CI/CD integration, and robust test coverage. The ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-first mindset.

    Key Responsibilities
    • Design, implement, and maintain automated tests using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript.
    • Build reusable testing libraries and utilities for authentication, including OAuth2/JWT, pagination, idempotency, rate limiting, and error handling.
    • Define test strategies and coverage across unit, integration, contract, and end-to-end service tests, prioritizing critical application paths.
    • Create robust negative, edge-case, and resilience tests, using mocking where appropriate.
    • Manage test data and environments, including data seeding, fixtures, and synthetic data, to maintain deterministic and efficient tests.
    • Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions and Azure DevOps, including parallel test execution, reporting, failure gating, and environment provisioning.
    • Participate in design and code reviews and advocate for application testability.
    • Document testing frameworks, reusable patterns, procedures, and runbooks.
    • Troubleshoot issues using application logs, traces, and network traffic.
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute as a dependable team member.

    Required Qualifications
    • 3–6+ years of experience in SDET or QA Automation roles with strong hands-on experience using Playwright.
    • Hands-on experience with Playwright using TypeScript/JavaScript or comparable automation frameworks.
    • Strong experience with API testing.
    • Experience configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, including test reporting and gating based on failures or coverage.
    • Familiarity with mocking and test data management.
    • Solid debugging skills across logs, traces, and network traffic.
    • Comfort using curl and command-line interface (CLI) tools for testing and troubleshooting.
    • Strong understanding of automated testing principles and test strategy.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.

    Preferred Qualifications
    • Understanding of the ServiceNow platform.
    • Experience with mobile application testing.
    • Experience in the retail industry.
    • Familiarity with HackerRank or similar technical coding assessments.
