Job Summary
The Business Data Analyst will support the Single-Family Data Analytics & Reporting group, specifically within the Desktop Underwriting team.
This role focuses on backend data analysis, requirement gathering, and validation of data across AWS platforms.
The ideal candidate will have strong SQL skills and experience working with data modeling teams to translate business requirements into actionable insights.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather and document business requirements and validate them against system data.
- Perform backend data analysis using AWS services including RDS, S3, RedShift, and PostgreSQL.
- Write complex SQL queries to extract and manipulate data from various databases.
- Collaborate with development and testing teams to ensure accurate implementation of requirements.
- Create Source-to-Target Mapping documentation and perform data reconciliation.
- Conduct data validation and cleansing activities, comparing expected vs. actual results.
- Analyze and compare data in JSON and XML formats.
- Participate in Agile ceremonies and serve as a point of contact for development and testing teams.
- Prepare data in a consumable format for business stakeholders.
- Utilize tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) for documentation and reporting.
Required Qualifications
- Proven experience in writing complex SQL queries and joining tables.
- Hands-on experience with AWS database services (RDS, S3, RedShift, PostgreSQL).
- Strong understanding of relational and dimensional data modeling concepts.
- Experience in gathering and translating business requirements for data modeling teams.
- Familiarity with mortgage industry terminology, particularly loan origination.
- Proficiency in JIRA and Confluence.
- Skilled in using Microsoft Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Ability to create and maintain Source-to-Target Mapping documentation.
- Strong communication skills with the ability to articulate technical requirements clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working in financial institutions or similar.
- Background in business or data analysis within the data modeling space.
- Familiarity with Oracle or Netezza databases.
